Perfect Pets: Milo.

This week I'm featuring Sammie and her Chihuahua Milo:

"My pet is called Milo, he's a chihuahua who turned just turned 2! He's a little over weight and is on a diet to lose those extra pounds! He likes food (obviously!) and playing with his two other friends in the house, another chihuahua called Bella and a Pug puppy called Joey. He also likes being taken out for walks and playing with his toys. He dislikes bath time and spiders, he tries to catch them then runs away! He also hates not being centre of attention! "
What a cutie?! You can find Sammie's blog here.

SHOW Beauty Volume Mist.

I received this in my Mid Summer Meet goodie bag and it's become a major staple in my hair care routine. SHOW was a brand I'd never heard of before, but since getting this I've seen the products dotted about Selfridges and Harvey Nic's - how could you miss this packaging?! The gorgeous bottle made it pretty difficult to photograph, but it does mean it looks pretty perfect on my dressing table. I love how glamorous it looks and we all could do with a little glamour in our lives!

The Volume Mist is to be used on wet hair before drying. You just spritz as much as needed into wet hair and then style as normal. I've been using this religiously as I have super straight and flat hair, but this has certainly been giving it that extra bounce that it very much needs. It's also meant that I can leave my hair down for longer after I've washed it. Generally I find it goes so flat at the back that I have to tie it up, and no amount of styling will sort it out. However I've been able to sleep and for at least 2-3 days after washing, my hair still looks full of life.

I'm not entirely sure how this product works, although it has a strange feel on your hair whilst it's wet but once it's dry my hair is super soft and silky. It feels sort of sticky - a lot like hairspray whilst your hair is damp and it just sort of disappears once your locks are dry. It smells really fruity and delicious too, which is always a bonus!

I am so impressed with this Volume Mist, I don't really know how I'm going to cope when it runs out. The price tag isn't so purse friendly at £35 from Look Fantastic, although it works for me I may have to find a slightly cheaper alternative.

Military Lace Shirt.

I recieved this very pretty military style shirt a few weeks back from the lovely people over at Mina. It's such an easy shirt to wear and looks super casual on the front and a little more 'dressy' and sophisticated on the back. I love that I can dress it up for a night out or pop a cardigan over the lace and dress it down for during the day.

I was a little worried I'd be showing too much skin but I actually don't mind it, and I've invested in a lovely bralet to pop on underneath too. I guess it's not too practical for winter but who needs practical when you've got some nice lace detailing.

The shirt is pretty oversized and has a cute drawstring to pull it in at the bottom, I think that adds something a little extra and transforms it from a plain black shirt to something a little more edgy. I haven't tried it with anything but leggins yet, but hopefully I can style it with something a little different too so I'm not dressed in all black!

Primark Nails and Haul.

Primark Nails - £1

Back when I worked for Pets at Home I used to always get my nails done. It was my little treat once a month after pay day and it made me feel a little more girly in the awful zookeeper-esk uniform. I will be the first one to say acrylics ruined my nails and to be honest they probably will never be as strong as they were before.

I'm always having a look at the Impress nails in Boots but they're a little pricey for my liking. So when I spotted these nails in Primark recently and thought I would give them a try. I've worn 'glue-on' nails really as I always thought they wouldn't last very long or flick off during the day, so I thought now was a perfect opportunity to try them. I'm back on placement from Monday and as we can't wear nails in hospital for obvious reasons, I thought I would play around with them and see how long I could get them to last.

You get 24 nails in a pack and a tube of glue. The nails are pretty good sizes, I have quite long and thin nails and I managed to find the perfect sizes for me. They also come in a lot of different designs, but I thought these bows were really cute and kinda remind me of Hello Kitty.

The nails stayed on really well, I am so impressed for the tiny price tag. In fact I actually took them off rather than them falling off, after nearly 3 days because I didn't want to leave them on for too long. They were really easy to get off too, I was naughty and just yanked them off but they came off neatly and haven't left much glue on my nails.

I think they are a real bargain and would be fab if you wanted a cute nail design for a weekend away or for a special occasion. I will certainly be picking up more of these, I am so pleased with the quality and staying power of these beauties!

Have you tried this nails?

I uploaded a Primark Haul to my YouTube channel here.

Nspa goodies.

Nspa Skin Renewal Gel*
Ultimate Cleansing Tonic*
Night Repair Cream*
Illuminating Beauty Serum*

A few week back I was lucky enough to receive these products from Nspa. Nspa is a brand I've heard of floating around the blogesphere and I've spotted in Asda a few times, so I was really excited to give these goodies a go.

First up I love the way the steps are numbered, it's great for beginners in skincare or those that a just a little confused as to whether you use serum or moisturiser first. I found that really useful and I would have certainly appreciated that when I was first starting out. The packaging is great all round, it's simplistic and stylish and isn't an eyesore in your bathroom, which is always a plus for me.

The products themselves I've really enjoyed using. the Skin Renewal Gel is a lovely thick consistency and advises you use it 2-3 times a week. I've been using it twice a week and it leaves me lovely and fresh, I think it suggested a few times a week as it does have some fruit acids in which help to exfoliate. No one wants an over exfoliated face!

The Ultimate Cleansing Tonic is another product I've liked. I've actually used this mainly to remove my eye make-up. I don't think that's exactly what it's intended for but cos of the oily consistency I find it lifts eye make up right off quickly and gently.

The final products I received were the Night Repair Cream and the Illuminating Beauty Serum. The night cream is really thick and soothing for my dry patches, but is certainly a night cream as it doesn't sink it immediately, which is fine for when I'm sleeping. The beauty serum is probably the product I've used least, not because I don't like it, but it's quite shimmery so I have to be careful as to how much I pump out.

Overall I've been really impressed with the Nspa products. They are true budget buys and are amazing quality in you're looking for some bargain end skincare.

You can buy Nspa at Asda.

Look What I Won.

I've very excited to say these are some goodie I won from Emma and Nuala's giveaway. I won a MAC Pigment in Vanilla, Clarins Lip Perfecter in Candy Shimmer and the most exciting prize was the Nars Eye shadow Duo in Isolde. I can't wait to start using my eye shadow palette, I'm just in need of some decent brushes and some YouTube tutorials so I can experiment.

I also won a Vaseline Spray & Go body moisturiser and a hand cream from Bath & Body works but I struggled to get a good photo and they're now sat in my bathroom ready to be used.

Have you won anything recently?

Winter Coat Love.

All Primark:
Coat - £25
Vest - £5
Leggings - £3

I've been looking for a new coat for a few weeks and I kept being drawn in to H&M and ogling over their over sized numbers. Unfortunately as I'm quite petite I can't get away with a size 8 in coat and I just could not find a 6 in any H&M store! So dragging my feet I trotted to primark and spotted this baby. It's very similar to the one I saw in H&M but a slightly different colour.

I then had the sizing issue all over and eventually gave up. But after popping into Manchester with my friend I found the coat in my size and it was the last one left - it was obviously meant to be. It had a tiny fault on the shoulder but nothing a pair of scissors couldn't fix, so with a £2 reduction I quite happily purchased my £23 winter coat.

It's really great quality and I love the over sized look. It's so comfy to wear and even at my tiny 5"2 I think it's still quite flattering. Thank you Primark, for once again saving the day!

Have you got your winter coat?

Perfect Pets: Charlie & Violet.

It's time for this week's Perfect Pets, introducing Charlie & Violet:

"Hey, I'm Kelly and I blog at www.lovefromkelly.co.uk.

My boyfriend James and I own Charlie and Violet, two five-month-old british shorthair kittens and they are insanely funny. We got them from a breeder in Bradford and they were part of a litter of four.

Charlie is our gorgeous cream boy and Violet is our little blue girl. Over the past two months we've seen their eye colour change from sky blue to coppery orange. Their tails have almost tripped in size and they've become ever more fluffier; weirdly they barely shred.

They were so little and so cute when we first brought them home. Now, don't get me wrong they still are really cute, but nothing makes me squeal more than a cute little kitten!

Violet has developed into such an independent little kitty. Despite this she's always waiting for our bedroom door to open on a morning and as soon as it is she runs inside the room and straight onto the bed for some cuddles.

We're a bit worried Violet is starting to get a caffeine addiction. Almost every time we have a coffee she tries to drink the remains of it. We literally have to push her away every time!

Charlie is a little more cheeky and friendlier. He loves to snuggle up against our legs and likes to watch us eat and then lick the plate clean. When Charlie hears our car pull up he runs down the stairs (I think he naps in the bedroom) to greet us. It's so funny to watch.

Love Kelly xx"

Gorgeous photos Kelly!

Superdrug Colour Effects.

I've walked past these colour effects countless times and never thought to give them a go. So when I saw all of Superdrug's own brand was on buy one get one half price, I thought I would give them a whirl. In the past I've used Directions colour conditioners and these remind me very much of them, however Superdrug's are half the price.

I tried the Rich Warm Brown for my roots and used the Cool Blonde for toning my ombre. I was really impressed with the results from both, but particularly impressed with the blonde toner. The brown conditioner is a tiny bit too light for my hair and has red undertones which mine doesn't. It's still great for a quick fix if you've not managed to dye your roots though. The blonde conditioner is actually purple toner, which is perfect for getting rid of orange, brassy tones in my ombre. It did a great job at brightening my ends up and left them a lot less orangey than before I conditioned.

The colour effects are so easy to use, you dampen your hair and massage a 10p sized amount into your hair, just like a shampoo. Then leave for 5 minutes and rinse out. As these are conditioners they leave your hair really soft and don't damage your locks. They're a fab way of injecting a bit of life into dull hair and amazing when I just don't have the time to dye my hair. There is lots of other colours to choose from too, I've linked the website page here.

Have you tried these?

Polargram Prints.

I've wanted some of my Instagram photos printing FOREVER and after coming across Polargram I knew it was the perfect opportunity. The prints are so cute, they are Polaroid size - hence the name and are fab if you want to write cute little messages or reminders on the bottom. They are really good quality too considering they will be slightly blown up from your Instagram. Polargram was really easy to use and super cheap too, you can get 12 prints for £5 including delivery - bargain. They do take a few weeks to arrive so if you're wanting them as a present for someone you're best ordering a good few weeks beforehand.

I can't fault these at all and I love the fact I have memories that I can stick all over my house rather than just on my Facebook wall.

My skin: Before & After.

All photos are without make up, before and one month after a course of Roaccutane

I will be honest, this post is probably for my own benefit. I kept some 'pre-roaccutane' photos on my laptop in hope that someday I could write this post.

Those that have followed me for a while will know almost a year ago I wrote a very difficult post about my 10 year battle with acne. That might sounds dramatic but those that have acne or have had acne will know it truly is a 'battle'. It knocks your confidence to the floor and you find yourself hiding away under a mask of make-up. For me it was always acne on my face up until last year, then I developed back acne which in some ways was worse. Not only was I worrying about whether my make up would stay in place or whether my spots were concealed, I also had to think about what clothes I could wear to cover up. That isn't such a problem during winter but during the summer vest tops were a no-no for me.

Eventually I was referred to dermatology and given a 8 month prescription of Roaccutane or Accutane if you're in the US. I'm sure many of you have heard of the drug and if you haven't give it a quick Google, you'll see the press coverage and the horrendous potential side effects. But for some reason none of that put me off, I knew what could happen yet I so desperately wanted clear skin, and Roaccutane is pretty much the last resort.

I'm very happy to say that it was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I fortunately didn't get any severe side effects. I had dry everything, including my eyes, joint pain, tiredness, but nothing out of the ordinary. And most of all my skin cleared pretty quickly on my face and a little slower on my back.

My skin is still a very raw subject for me, even though I'm happy with it I will always have the fear of my acne returning. I kind of took over my life a little for such a long time, it's quite hard to let go and move on. I hope this has helped with anyone considering seeing a dermatologist or anyone suffering with acne. I didn't think it was possible, but trust me there is some light at the end of a very long tunnel.

Foxy Dress.

Fox Print Dress - Sugarhill Boutique via Scarlett Fashion*

First up, again I appologise about the photo quality, I still haven't got a new SD card so it makes outfit posts pretty tricky to get a decent photo. You know my crazy love for animals, so this dress is just perfect for me, with the cute fox print. I love the peter pan collar too and the cut-out detail that really adds a little bit of uniqueness to the dress. The skirt is a gorgeous chiffon layered skirt and is a really flattering length on me. I think this dress will look so cute with a jumper layered over for winter and the collar popping out!

I love so many of the items from the Sugarhill Boutique collection at Scarlett Fashion, you can check all of the clothes available here.

Asda Gel Pro.

Asda Gel Pro Nail Varnish in Necterine - £2 (on offer)

I've spotted a few of bloggers loving the new Asda gel nail varnish, so when I went to Asda last week I knew I had to pick one up. I settled on Nectarine which is a really lovely pinky-coral, there were lots of colours to choose from but I wanted something bright to cheer up the dark nights.

The formula is nice and I would say quite thick, I could have probably just about got away with one-coat but this look was achieved with two. The drying time is fab and my nails were touch-dry in a matter of minutes. I applied my NYC top coat and they've remained chip-free for 3 days!

I've not mentioned that I don't really get on with the Barry M gelly nails, I just think they look so much better on other people and look quite dull on me. So with that in mind, I prefer these varnishes to the infamous Barry M. Plus they are half the price.

I think these will be priced at £3 a bottle once the promotion has finished, but they were also on 3 for £5 or £2 each when I picked mine up. I can't wait to try more colours and some more of the new Asda make up range, I spotted pretty blushers..

Have your tried these nail varnishes yet?

Moroccanoil.

Moroccanoil Treatment - £12.85*

I've had this for a few weeks now and I really wanted to give it a good go before I did a review. I think Moroccanoil is one of those products that's really hyped in the hairdressing world, so when I was given a chance to try it I was pretty excited. I have very dry hair at the best of times and now with my extra added ombre it's even dryer so this product couldn't have come at a better time.

I use around a 10p sized amount and rub it into my palms them run my hands through the ends of my damp towel-dried hair. I like to avoid the roots in case I get a little too much on and look like a greasy mess. It's a strange yellow colour and I'm not sure I like the smell, but once it's on your hair you can't smell it. I like to use this in conjunction with other damage protection products and I even use it on dry hair the night before I'm due to wash my barnet. Although my ends are dry they feel silky soft and not brittle, which I can only assume is down to this. My hair is pretty healthy despite the dryness but the Moroccanoil just gives it that added boost when it's feeling and looking a little dull.

Considering the price and how much you actually have to use, I think this little bottle will last me a good few months, so it's quite a good deal. I don't think I'd need to buy the larger bottle because I would never get through it all.

You can pick this product up from Amazing Hair here.

Perfect Pets: Dylan.

It's my favourite time of the week again, perfect pets! This week I'm featuring Catherine and her Cocker Spaniel Dylan, so here he is:

"Dylan is 4 years old, and still acts like a puppy 90% of the time. He loves eating runner beans, sledging in the snow (and eating it), swimming in dirty rivers and dunking his head under, stealing tea towels, and tossing his flowerpot in the air and catching it. He also has a penchant for natural Frozen Yoghurt, and it's his summer treat. He also enjoys his walks and playing the game 'Where's Dylan', which is a bit like Hide n Seek! Dylan's a little spoilt...and has three beds around the house. I'm still not sure why. Like every spaniel, he's rather energetic, and seems to think everyone wants to play with him and be his friend. He gets most put out when someone ignores him. He hates cats, foxes, and birds, yet he used to be absolutely terrified of our Guinea-pig when she was alive - we'd put them both in the garden in the summer and he'd run away from her whenever she went near him! It gave us quite a few laughs :)"

You can see more photos of gorgeous Dylan over on Catherines blog here.

If you have no idea what Perfect Pets is, or you'd like to be involved check out my introduction to the series here.

New hair again.

If you follow me on Instagram (Katieatki) or Twitter (@katieatki) you'll have probably already seen my new do. Yes, I re-ombred my hair and this time it went well. I love the ombre effect and really wanted to jump back on board, so here it is. Sorry about the iPhone photos I'm having a little camera dilemma at the moment.  Also if you'd like a tutorial on how to ombre or a hair care routine please let me know in the comments.

Secondly, I thought I would show off my new statement necklace*. I'm not a necklace person really but when I made my order with Choies I spotted this and added it to my basket. I love the colour and style, it's really feminine but the big chunk chain mans it up. It really adds something to a plain outfit.

ASOS Tunic.

This is one of those tops that looks completely different when it arrives but in a very good way. I wasn't sure when I ordered this but I thought it was a bargain so I wanted to try it on. I really love the over-sized look of it, this is actually my normal size believe it or not. I have found ASOS clothes can be slightly too big for me so I've made a note to myself to order the next size down in future. However, I think this probably works better being over sized than it would if it was a fitted style.

The quality is fab on this top, it's actually layered with a pink lace tee connected underneath to give the baby pink effect. The black baroque print is embroidered and looks quite quirky as it's not all exactly the same.

I'm really impressed with ASOS sale this time around. Have you got any bargains?

Treats for me.

The lovely people over at Treat Republic allowed me to do a spot of shopping on their website. It took me AGES to pick the things I wanted cos the selection is huge. But eventually I settled on these items, which I would say are very 'me'. Well except the spoon but that was a surprise for the hubby...

I picked the door stop first cos it matches some of our other ones, as it's the same brand. I love how quirky the little dog is and it's just too cute sat propping my door open. I have really annoying doors that automatically close so a doorstop is essential in our house. It's the perfect size too, it's not too small that it doesn't do it's job but not too big that I fall over it. I love the cute button detail too, it's really sweet.

Next up, if you've followed my blog for a while you'll know this needs no explanation. Yes, this is a baby/child's teddy but I needed it in my life. My rabbit obsession is getting a little out of hand, but I had to add this bunny to my collection. I've informed Jonathan, until I have real bunnies to play with I will continue expanding my rabbit collection.

Lastly, I thought this spoon was a really cute gesture and a little something to keep the Mr happy. They come in a few different designs but I thought this one summed us up nicely. It's in a really pretty box too, I think it's a nice keepsake but very practical too!

Thank you Treat Republic for spoiling me.

Tropic Skincare Brow Define.

I've been looking for a new brow kit for sometime so when Tropic Skincare offered me the chance to pick something from their website, I just could resist this set. Since dying my hair darker I've struggled to get the right shade of brow. I have pretty good eyebrows that behave the majority of the time but they are a really light brown and naturally very thin. Before dying my hair dark I didn't bother filling in my brows everyday but now it's become an essential for me and I feel strange if I don't add some colour to them.

I was so excited to try a new brow kit and this certainly hasn't disappointed. The kit comes in several shades, I picked the shade Bistre which is the darkest and was recommended for my shade of hair. I think the colour is perfect for me, although I do have to be careful not to get too carried away. The other pot is a highlighter for under and above your brow bone to give a little extra shape.

The set comes with a brush and stencils to find your perfect shape (I struggled to photograph the stencils). The brush is double ended with a diagonal end to fill in your brow and a rounded end to help buff out the colour and give a good even finish.

I've been using this set everyday as part of my make up routine and I just don't feel 'dressed' without it. I'm so glad I've got my hands on a really good brow kit that will last forever.

What do you fill your brows with?

SheInside Wishlist.

Untitled #53

I discovered SheInside via another blogger and really loved the website. The clothes are so reasonably priced, although in dollars - it's pretty easy to covert. I just thought I would show you a few pieces that caught my eye, that I think would be perfect for Autumn/Winter.

Firstly, I'm on the hunt for the perfect coat - this parka is AMAZING and I love the the furry hood. I haven't quite decided what type of coat I'd like this winter but I think the green trench style coat would be fab to wear just as the days are starting to get a little cooler.

I'm still loving florals and nudes. I just think florals are perfect if you need cheering up a little on those dark mornings. There's nothing like a bit of colour to make you feel a bit better. Nudes are great for wearing with black when you don't want to dress like you're going to a funeral everyday. I think pretty much any skintone can find the perfect nude for them - even us paleies!

Lastly, I'm loving (as I do every year) the leather look items. This is the time of year my fake leather jacket comes back out of my wardrobe and never leaves my back until the snow arrives. I think this skirt would look fab with some woolly tights and a chunky knit jumper.

Have you seen SheInsides website?

Jurlique Silk Finishing Powder.

Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder - £24.50*

Do you ever receive a product you just fall in love with? Well this is mine. I was very kindly sent this a few weeks back with my Jurlique skincare and I've been using it everyday since. I believe it's very similar to the Laura Mercier finishing powder however I've never given that one a go. In fact, I'd never tried a white translucent powder before and always stuck to pressed powders, but this has well and truly converted me and I don't think there's any going back.

The powder is really light and fine and you only need the tiniest bit to powder your face. I can see this is going to be a staple in my make up routine for some time. It not only mattifies my skin after applying make up, it also leaves a really natural finish. I've found in the past with coloured pressed powders they can turn my face a little orange if it's not quite the same shade as my foundation. There is no worries with this because of the colour it leaves an amazing finish.

The small amount of powder also prevents my face from looking a little shiny and keeps m make up in place all day long. I also mentioned this in my August favourites, which you can watch here.

Have you tried a finishing powder?
