Notting Hill Carnival.

It's fair to say I've never been to anything like Notting Hill Carnival. It was crazy, so many people dancing and singing in the streets. It had an amazing atmosphere and we actually got right to the front of where the carnival was passing. The sun was shining and everyone was happy, a good day all round.

Jurlique Skincare.

Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Face Mask*
Jurlique Balancing Cleansing Lotion*

Jurlique has recently become my new favourite, in terms of skincare. I'm sure the majority of you will have heard of this brand, which is slowly becoming hyped in the blogesphere. I first heard of Jurlique a few months back and knew I had to give the brand a go. So when I was asked if I'd like to try some goodies from them, I couldn't resist.

Jurlique is an Australian brand, which makes it a little more tricky to get hold of in the UK. However, I've just discovered M&S have started stocking some of the range and you can get your hands on it online. The products are made with ingredients grown in Jurlique's own farm in Australia, which is pretty amazing.

I was sent Rose Moisture Plus Face Mask to try. This is a really lovely thick and soothing mask, that just sinks into dry skin. It also states it can be used as an overnight mask, which I've also tried. The scent is perfect for overnight, it's a subtle rose scent that really helps you relax. My skin feels soft and re-hydrated after using the mask, I think it's perfect for a 'quick fix' if you only have ten minutes to stop your skin from flaking.

The Balancing Cleansing Lotion has become part of my skin care routine, and comes in step-two of my double cleanse. The scent of this is a little different, it's herbally but not overpowering. The cleanser is packed full of oils and seeds and even has beeswax, green tea and turmeric to give a natural anti-oxident.

Jurlique do ranges for every type of skin, so if you're not after something for dry/combination skin, go check out their website here.

Have you tried anything from this range?

London Haul: Food.

This is probably one of the most random London hauls you'll see. Most bloggers would be so excited to go beauty or clothes shopping, but not me - I wanted food! As most of you know I am gluten intolerant so finding different things to eat is really exciting for me. Whole Foods has become my favourite place, unfortunately unless I move to the outskirts of London, I'm not going to be able to do my weekly shop there. So whilst we were in London I dragged the hubby to the huge Whole Foods on Kensington High Street. All of the foods are pretty self explanatory but the little tub, for those wondering, is peanut butter - freshly made in store, amazing. The marshmallows may seem a little random, but as I'm veggie it's pretty hard finding marshmallows I can eat - I am so glad I found these without gelatin.

China Town also reminded me of how much Chinese food is GF. So I spent a good half an hour looking for goodies to take home with me. I've now decided to try and shop more at Chinese supermarkets - mainly in search of another bottle of Lychee Tea

The most exciting GF purchase I made was the Fria Cinnamon Buns. I'd been hunting for these since I first tried them almost a year ago, unfortunately they are practically impossible to get hold of in the UK, unless you're willing to pay an excessive P&P charge to keep them frozen. I did a bit of Googling and discovered I could get my hands on these at a place called Totally Swedish near Edgeware Road. It was a tiny shop and these were the last packet, but they were absolutely worth hunting down.

Do you love finding new foods to try?

Pyjama Pants + ASOS Giveaway.

Vest - H&M
Trousers & Shoes - Primark

I'm currently lounging around and recovering from a hectic four days in London. I love London, every time we visit there is always something new to discover and explore. But it's the most exhausting place on Earth. So with that in mind, today I've had a long hot bath and watched trashy daytime TV.

I've been after a pair of 'pyjama' trousers for a while now and heard Primark had a few new pairs in. However before I even found the new range, I spotted these trousers reduced to £5! I love how light and comfy they are, they were perfect for a crazy hot day in London town.

And yes, that is, once again a toilet photo. For some reason I'm just drawn to full length mirrors in public toilets -  at least this time it was Westfield's loos.

GIVEAWAY CLOSED

I also have another exciting giveaway for you all. This time it's a £40 voucher for ASOS! The lovely people at Appliances Online (link here) have allowed me to do this giveaway. All you need to do, follow this blog via GFC/Bloglovin and leave me your email address in the comments below, before 4th September. I will then randomly select one winner.

Good Luck!

My hair history.

I've seen a few of these posts in the past so of course I wanted to jump on the bandwagon and do my own. My hair changes like the weather, I get bored so easily and always want to do something new with it. So this is my hair 'history' from around 18 to now - that's a whole 5 years of hair.

As you can see I don't deviate a lot from dark hair. In school I had blonde hair but I eventually decided I suited darker much more. The middle photo is my natural hair colour, so as you can see I am pretty dark anyway. Before I got married I let all of my colour grow out and got my hair chopped so it was nice and healthy, then afterwards I bleached it.. I think it must have been post-wedding blues but I quickly changed it back to dark a few months later.

As most of you know I'd been 'ginger' for some time - around a year, but recently I reverted back to my trusty dark locks. I think that's the way they'll stay, for now anyway.

TOMMYGUNS Haircare.

TOMMYGUNS Blueberry and Ginseng Shampoo
TOMMYGUNS Blueberry, Ginseng and Honey Conditioner
TOMMYGUNS Colour Save Intensive Masque

If you follow me on Instagram (Katieatki), you'll have probably already seen these products. I was kindly sent them to try and I just can't get over how nice they are for my hair. I hadn't heard of the brand before, but after doing a little research I discovered it's won lot of hair care awards.

First up I need to express how incredible these products smell. The shampoo and conditioner smell like a really sweet Ribena, they certainly smell good enough to drink! They are just amazing and the scent transfers to your hair too, after using these I spend some time just sitting and smelling my hair...delicious! The masque is equally as nice, not quite as sqeet but a very pleasant smell - you'll prefer this if you're not into sweet things!

I try to use the set together, to get the full benefit of volume and nourishment. The masque actually states to use it after shampoo and conditioner - I don't know if it's just me but I replace my conditioner with a masque?! However this is a little different and is to be used in conjunction with a conditioner. It's really thick and luxurious and feels amazing on your hair.

You can actually buy a set of three products, just like these, for a tiny £17, here. The brand also so a Fig and Plum shampoo too, I really want to try purely cos of the scent. Combining these products together left me with super silky, manageable hair. I am absolutely in love with this brand and I need more!

Instagram #23.

I'm currently in London (horray!) so this isn't quite a weeks worth of Instagram, but it's not far off. This week has consisted of cats, baking and filling my bathroom with a many Clarins samples as physically possible. I only went in for a sample of the Gentle Brightening Exfoliating Toner and came out with a hand full - FYI Clarins counters are THE best at giving out samples. Anywho..

Jelly Shoes back out
Free Marc Jacobs Coke
Cutest sample ever
Cat posing
Lots of goodies arrived - expect reviews
Another cat
New cleansing oil from Body Shop
Gluten free cheese straws
Amazing trousers

Just for the record I don't actually own a cat, neither of the cats featured are mine. They just seem to want to come in my house all the time, I'm like the cat whisperer.

What have you been up to this week?

Chiara Fashion Photoshoot.

Last week I was invited up to Leeds to go to the Chiara Fashion bloggers photoshoot. There were three bloggers invited me, Mags and Laura - go check out their blogs! It was such a fab day, we were pampered, had our hair and make up done and given free reign over the clothes to style some outfits. Then, of course, we had our photos taken in the outfits we'd picked. These are just a few of my favourite photos from the day - hope you like them!

A HUGE thank you to Chaira Fashion for inviting me to such a fun event!

Makebelieve Little White Lie Tanning Spray.

Makebelieve Little White Lie Tanning Spray*

Do you ever get a product that you just HAVE to try immediately? Well this was one of those for me. I received this in the Mid Summer Meet (post here) goodie bag, last week and I've used it every day since. I was so intrigued by this product because of the spray pump and the fact that it comes out completely clear. As you're all aware I am super pale and rely on a fake tan to give me a little colour, I always find no matter what, after a few applications the tan goes patchy and orange looking. However, I've had zero problems with this product, I may have found my HG tan.

Firstly, you need a minimal amount - I use around 3 pumps for my arms which is hardly any product. I, or course, use a tanning mitt (no one likes orange hands!) to apply evenly and then just leave it to dry. Drying time is pretty swift, I'd say you're safe to get dressed after about 3-5 mins to be on the safe side. The tan develops throughout the day to a really subtle colour and not orangey in the least. This is probably one of the nicest colour tans I've found for pale skin.

Lastly, the smell. This smells lovely, it's a really nice fragrance and doesn't smell like biscuit at all.Obviously, all tans eventually turn to that very strange distinct smell, but this again is very subtle. This is a fab product and I'm really impressed. The tan contains Argan oil too, so won't dry out the skin and actually adds a little moisture, making the tan feel nice and smooth. It's also paraben free!

I've spotted the tan on Look Fantastic, which sponsored the event last week. The tan is priced at £11.37 for 150ml - bargain.

Karma Clothing.

The lovely people at Karma Clothing asked me to pick an item from their website to try. After making a shortlist of a few different items I finally settled on this cute skater dress. I love skater style dresses cos I think they are quite flattering on my body shape. They kinda make my legs look longer than they are, which is always a good thing when you're a tiny 5"2.

The thing that drew me this dress is the contrasting sleeves, I think they're great for adding a little extra something and really make the yellow more vibrant. The dress itself is comfy and I can't wait to wear it when I'm back to uni! Karma Clothing is a great place to look if you are wanting some new clothes for September, it's really reasonably price too!

Have you bought anything from Karma Clothing?

Roaccutane (very dry skin) Essentials: Part 2.

Here's part 2 of my Roaccutane (Accutane) essentials. If you didn't catch part one the link is here. Today is my final day on Roaccutane, I can't quite believe it's been 8 months. I'm pretty apprehensive about coming off the drug and my skin just returning to the way it was, but there is no way to find out until I take the plunge. Fingers crossed I won't need to visit the dermatologist ever again after my final appointment. Any way here is the final part of my essentials.

In Shower

Conditioning Hair Mask - I am pretty obsessed with hair masks at the best of times, but even more so whilst my hair has had zero oil in. In one aspect it's been pretty amazing only having to wash my hair once a week, but on the other hand it's been brittle and dry. A good hair mask really brings it back to life and leaves it super soft and silky.

Nivea Body Conditioner for Dry Skin - This little baby came out earlier this year, and as most of you know kinda took the blogging world by storm. This is something that has really helped with my general dryness and feels amazing on my skin. This is something I will continue to buy mainly cos it has almond oil in (much like the hyped L'Occitane shower gel) but for a really good price tag.

Miscellaneous

Hand Cream - I get dry hands generally, but they have become worst whilst on this medication. A good, thick hand cream is always useful - plus these Body Shop ones are always on offer. I think I got this one for around £5 for a hefty tube.

Facial Gradual Tan - My chin and general mouth area has probably suffered the most over the last few month. Which means flaky skin and make up are pretty much a no-go, I've avoided wearing foundation for long periods of time due to it flaking off and looking vile. So hence the facial tan, it's nice to add a little colour to your face and moisturises too. A BB cream is a good idea if you want a little more coverage but I have yet to find 'the one'.

Must-haves

Ibuprofen Gel - I cannot explain how useful this is. Initially I didn't suffer with joint pain, but about 6 months in, it arrived. I can't describe the feeling but it can get pretty uncomfortable. Roaccutane must be the only medication that advises you not to do excessive exercise. My hips and knees have been the worst for pain and I can't sit in the same position for long periods of time. This gel really takes the edge off the pain and came in very handy on holiday after we'd done a lot of walking/swimming.

Carmex - This is my 6th tube since January. I've found no other lip balm works as well for me, I've been very thankful for Carmex and really don't know how I would have managed without (dramatic, I know). Unless you've been on Roaccutane or have been around someone on the medication there is no way of explaining how dry your lips will get. Be prepared.

So that's my final run-down of Roaccutane essentials, I hope this has been of some use to some people, if anyone has any questions feel free to leave me a comment, or send me an email!

Mid Summer Meet.

If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, I'm sure you'll have seen me getting excited about the Mid Summer Meet last Thursday. It was a fab night organised by Hannah and Look Fantastic, where lots of brands got together and told us all about themselves. Some of the brands included Benefit, Burts Bees, Moroccanoill, Nails Inc, evo and Loreal, to name a few - so there was a real mix.

The Benefit ladies were lovely and offering out free make overs, but I opted to get my nails done by the Nails Inc girls. They used their new Gel Effect Nails which aren't available in stores yet, and I fell in love. Thankfully they popped one in our goodie bags, which I am so excited about. It's just so shiny!!!

As you can see the goodie bag was jam packed full of things, this is just some of what I received. I'm so excited to try some brands I've wanted to try for so long, expect lots of review in the near future.

Did you go to the Mid Summer Meet?

They call it bunny love.

Bunny Tee - Dorothy Perkins
PJ Bottoms - Primark

I saw my parents earlier this week and they had some lovely surprises for me. You all know my love of bunnies and I'd actually asked for these PJ bottom for Christmas but my Mammy went out and got me them as a treat. The tee I didn't know about, but it's the cutest top ever and really flattering too. I always forget to pop into DP when I'm in town, maybe I should stop by more often.

Have you seen any cute bunny prints?

#MidSummerMeet OOTN.

Vest - Topshop
Leggings - George @ Asda
Sandals, Bag & Brolly - Primark

Last night I attended  the Mid Summer Meet in Manchester, along with a good few other bloggers. It was a really fun night and I will dedicate an entire post to it, if I can get my SD card to work. Appologies for these photos off my iPhone - my laptop has decided for it to read the SD card it needs to wipe it, so I will have to try it in the computer later #bloggersproblems. Oh and yes that is a full length mirror in the train station toilets..

Anyway back onto the outfit, I LOVE these leggings, they are so comfy and a bargain at £8. Asda have some really nice, on trend clothes in at the minute, lots of tartan if that's your thing. I've spotted a few things that I would like to add to my wardrobe!

Collection Eyeshadow Pencils.

Collection Eye Shadow Pencils in:
Hot Chocolate
Vintage Blush

I was so excited when I saw these in Superdrug a few weeks back. They are pretty new to the Collection stand and I knew I just had to give them a go. If you know me, you'll know I have pretty sensitive eyes and I wear contact lenses so I generally avoid using an eyeshadow. I'm also pretty awful at eye make up and tend to just stick with mascara to be on the safe side. However, these are so, so easy to use and have become part of my make up routine.

The pigmentation is amazing for the tiny price tag of £2.50 (I think that is the intro price), I only did one 'swipe' with each to get the colours above. I love the Vintage Blush, I actually search three Superdrug stores for it, it must be popular! It's so simple yet really sophisticated when it's on and it's the perfect colour to use as a highlight if you didn't want it all over. I find these blend really well initially but because they are waterproof, once they're in place they ain't budging. The fact they are waterproof does mean they have amazing lasting power and will certainly not need topping up throughout the night. I even wore these in the Turkish heat and they were still in place before bed time.

Have you tried any of these? I'm dying to try the Vanilla Sky!

Roaccutane/Accutane Essentials: Part 1.

I'm doing a little two-part series inspired by Amelia from Liana Beauty. A few weeks back Amelia did a post on Roaccutane essentials and as I'm coming into my last week of my course of medication I thought I would do a list of my essentials. As most of you know I've been documenting my journey since January via YouTube (my link is in the side bar) and I am very happy with the results and even happier that I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's been a VERY long 8 and a bit months, but without a doubt I would do it again.

Face Skincare

Cetaphil Cleanser - I ADORE this stuff. This is something that will forever be in my skin care routine. I didn't take this on holiday and I really noticed, I was so happy to have it back when we returned. This is fragrance free, made especially for sensitive skin and non-condegemic so it's perfect for ANY skin type. Obviously my skin has been beyond dry this has soothed my skin no end and it's been a pleasure given my face a wash.

Origins Drink Up Mask - This isn't an 'essential' as such but a moisturising mask certainly is. This is perfect to use as an overnight treatment to really give my skin an extra moisture boost. Your skin will love you for this.

SPF 50 - Any facial SPF is a huge MUST for Roaccutane treatment. Your skin becomes extremely photosensitive and burns very easily. Protect, protect, protect.

Superdrug Vitamin E Daily Moisturiser - This is a lovely cheap but thick moisturiser that works pretty well for it's tiny price tag. You all know I'm a huge fan of Superdrug's own brand products and I've raved about this in the past. Any moisturiser that works for you should go with you everywhere, this is the perfect size for my handbag.

Body Skincare

Doublebase Gel - This was actually on prescription after I had a huge breakout of dry skin/eczema under my armpit (I know - not nice). It's a really lovely consistency and soothes my itchy super quickly. My dry skin cleared up in a few days and I've kept it under bay by using this daily. I assume you can get something alike to this over the counter.

Cetaphil Restoraderm - This is non-prescription and is available in Boots. This is unbelievably nice to use on dry skin, it's really creamy and sinks in straight away. This is really great for soothing the skin after you've been in the sun too - a really great moisturiser for any skin type.

August Wedding.

Dress - Ted Baker
Shoes - Topshop (old)
Bag - Next
Hairband - Topshop

On Saturday me and the hubby attended the wedding of our two friends. The location was gorgeous and only 1/2 mile from our house - whoever said Wigan isn't pretty, I beg to differ. The weather stayed dry and the sun even made an appearance for some lovely photos. The bride looked stunning in the most perfect lace, vintage looking dress. We all have a fab day and really enjoyed celebrating with the very happy couple.

Here's to the new Mr & Mrs Turner.
