New beginnings.

I can't quite believe 2013 is over. This time of year is an opportunity to reflect and think about the last year. Instead of writing a list of resolutions that I won't stick to, I thought I'd right a little about what I've learnt from 2013.

1. I'm much stronger than I think. I've made it halfway through my degree and I feel so much more confident in myself. I'm starting to truly believe in myself - something I should have started doing a long time ago.

2. I've somehow developed a back bone. This is something I thought I would never say, but this year I've learnt to stand up for myself - this should have happened well before 23. In the words of Ms Swift 'People throw rocks at things that shine'.

3. It's okay to not be okay all of the time. I've sort of learnt to let my walls down a little and admit when I'm not feeling 100%. This may not seem like much but for me this a HUGE deal.

4. Thirteen isn't unlucky for everyone. Despite 2013 being a whirlwind, there has always been a silver lining to the things that have gone wrong. It may not have ran quite as smoothly as I'd hoped, but I guess it actually has made me a stronger person.

So here's to 2014, I hope there is plenty of love, laughter and happiness. I can't wait to see what the new year brings.

Sale Shopping Bargains.

I was pretty disappointed with the sales this year, especially at the Trafford Centre. However, we popped into Wigan and Warrington over the weekend and the sales seemed to be far better. I picked up some really exciting bargains so I thought I would share them with you.

Soap & Glory Powder Trip from Boots - Reduced from £20 to £10

I was so excited to find this. I've been dying to try the S&G  bronzers and blushes but at £11 each I thought they were a little pricey. When I spotted this little baby I was too excited, all three blush/bronzer/highlighters for less than the price of one!

Selfridges
Clarins Lip set - Reduced from £18 to £12
Clarins Winter Beauty Collection - £20 (with a Clarins purchase)

I am a HUGE Clarins fan, as you all know. I spotted this lip set in Boots before Christmas but it sold out before I could get my hands on it. I practically grabbed this off the shelf in Selfridges and I was too excited to see it had been reduced down to £12.

I'm a sucker for a good deal and when the lady said I could pick up the Winter Beauty Collection exclusive to Selfridges for a tiny £20, I couldn't say no. You get a full size Hand and Nail treatment, body lotion, body scrub, a bath and shower concentrate (my fave), a mini lip gloss and a cute make up palette. Considering the Hand and Nail treatment is £20 alone, this is a pretty amazing deal.

Next
Rabbit Onesie - Reduced from £20 to £10
Rabbit Slippers - Reduced from £12 to £6

Okay my obsession with rabbits is still going strong. I loved this rabbit print onesie ever since I laid my eyes on it. However, I couldn't quite justify the £20 price tag when I had a perfectly good onesie sat at home. My pug onesie has swifty made it's way to the back of my PJ drawer.

These slippers were too adorable to leave behind, they need no explanation, I just LOVE them.

Coat - River Island £60 reduced to £7.50

This has to be my biggest bargain by far. This was initially reduced to £30 in the sale however the poppers on the pockets have fallen off on the inside, which makes no difference to the look of the coat, but it does mean it was deemed faulty. If you've never discovered the River Island 'imperfect' rail before, it's well worth a look - an extra 75% off sale items!

Marks and Spencer
Butterfly Candle - Reduced from £15 to £10
Apivita Honey Set - Reduced from £10 to £5

I had a gift card to spend in M&S and I knew immediately that I wanted a new candle (I'm beyond obsessed..). I saw this beautiful butterfly candle in the sale and knew it had to be mine. I love that it's in a gorgeous ceramic jar and will look so pretty on my dressing table even after the candle has burnt.

I'm a huge fan of Apvita and their face masks are amazing. I was really impressed with this littler set - considering the face masks are £3 alone, I couldn't turn down this little baby.

I've also ordered some goodies from Lush's sale, I can't wait for them to arrive - expect a haul post!

What did you pick up in the sales?

Gluten Free Cake Pops.

We got a really exciting gift for Christmas - a cake pop maker! It's one of those things I've spotted every time I've been into Lakeland, along with the cupcake maker, that I thought I would never be able to use. However, we whipped the cake pop maker out of the box yesterday afternoon and got our bake on.

The process was really simple, we made a regular cake batter (gluten-free of course!) then followed the instructions on the cake pop maker. It's a little tricky at first but once you get the hang of how big of a scoop of batter you need, it's really quite easy. We ended up with a huge batch of cake pops, probably too many for two people but we know for next time.

Once the batter is the the maker, it takes a tiny 4 minutes to cook the cake pops. When we lifted the lid on the first batch, we did a little gasp as they'd actually worked! In fact, every batch was pretty much perfect, if I do say so myself.

We decorated the cake pops with melted Celebrations and sprinkles. We used the mini Mars and Snickers bars, which probably wasn't the best choice for melting, but it definitely was taste-wise. They aren't the neatest of things, but I like the quirky home-made style of them, and at the end of the day, as long as they taste good who cares?!

Have you ever made cake pops?

Here's a snippet of my Christmas gifts. I was utterly spoilt this year and go so many nice things. As well as the goodies you can see here, I got a gorgeous coat from my in laws, lots and lots of smellies, a cake pop maker from my other in laws and plenty of pennies to spend in the sales. I can't wait to show you the bargains I picked up in the Boxing Day sales too.

Did you get lots of nice things for Christmas?

The BEST gluten-free gift.

I will be honest, this will sound a little pathetic, but I got a little emotional when this parcel arrived. I've been getting a little frustrated and irritated by my gluten free diet recently, I'm just bored of the same old food and my cravings for things I know I can't eat, is getting out of hand. So when Udi's Gluten Free sent me this Christmas present, I welled up a little through pure happiness. It was so thoughtful and kind for them to send me this box, I was overwhelmed...

Udi's is a brand I've actually tried as they stock some items in my local Tesco. For the past month or so, the Cinnamon and Raisin bagels have swiftly made their way into my trolley. Unfortunately the range isn't huge in my store so I've not had chance to try much of the range, so I am so excited to give these products ago.

I haven't been able to eat Pop Tarts in almost two years - you could never imagine how much I miss them! Udi's have sent me some Toaster Pastries, they are shaped and designed like Pop Tarts. I immediately opened  them when the box arrived and shoved in the toaster. I've tried the strawberry one's so far and I must say, they are delicious! I am so excited to try these Bagel Chips in Cinnamon and Sugar. They look like the perfect snack, especially for this time of year. They will be coming with me on my travels over the Christmas period.

I can't wait to try all of these lovely goodies, thank you again Udi's you certainly put a smile on this Scrooge's face.

You can find out more about Udi's on their website, here.

Christmas Day Hair.

Untitled #59

All images from Hair Romance

I don't know about you but I can't be bothered to wash my hair on Christmas day. There is always far too much going on and the last thing I want to be doing in blow drying and styling my hair. I tend to wash my hair on Christmas Eve and do something with it the following day. I've taken it upon my self to try and find some easy to create hair styles for the big day - FYI this isn't a sponsored post, I've just fallen in love with the website.

I actually really like having my hair up. It's nice to have it off my face, but a top knot or a high pony tail gets a little boring. I love these simple hair styles for adding a little extra something to you hair and not talking forever to do. I'm pretty sure I could do all of these styles with a few hair grips and hair bobbles.

The thick braid added into a low pony tail, is such a simple idea and looks so pretty. And the double buns are the cutest idea. I really want to start being more creative with my hair styles, so hopefully these holidays I might actually be a little more adventurous.

I just want to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Christmas, I hope Santa brings you everything you've wished for and more.

A few things I've won..

.
Lady Luck must have been on my side recently. I'm usually he unluckiest person going, but recently I've been winning a few giveaways, so I thought I would share what I've won!

I won this Ombre hair piece from Wonderland Wigs via Sally's blog here.

I've won a £50 Voucher to spend at In LOVE With Fashion on Claire's blog here. I picked these two dresses and a nail varnish to spend my voucher on. I was really impressed with the website and these came with free next day delivery!

This week I've also wont this Ted Baker iPad case from Rosie's blog here. Although I have the iPad mini this fits it in perfectly and it has a little extra room for anything else I need for uni.

I've also won a £20 voucher for Topshop and a Beauticology Bath Set from Amy's blog here - which is on it's way to me in the New Year!

Have you won anything exciting recently?

CLLRS Jewellery.

A few weeks back, I was asked by the lovely people at Callie Rose if I'd like to get my hands on some of their jewellery. Of course, after taking a look at their gorgeous site I picked some lovely bits to add to my every growing jewellery collection. I went with the Wishbone necklace*, which is adorable. I'm a big believer in Karma and of course wishbones are well known for supposedly bringing you some luck, I could do with all the luck in the world so this is perfect for me.
The other piece of jewllery I picked, is this gorgeous Love Heart Bangle*, it's so simple and delicate. I'm not a huge fan of chunky bracelets, only because they look ridiculous on my wrists, but this bangle is the perfect size for me.
The jewellery is really well priced and there is such a huge variety I could be looking through the website all day. I'm really impressed with these two peices, I will certainly be venturing to Callie Rose Accessories in the future.
Check out the full range here.

Diptyque Dupe.

I am OBSESSED with candles, in fact that is probably definitley an understatement. I've been pining after a Diptyque candle forever, but I still haven't parted with the cash (I'm secretly hoping they will be reduced after Christmas...wishful thinking!). I heard a while back that Muji do some Diptyque dupes, and for a fraction of the price I needed to try. After smelling all the scents Muji had to offer, I settled for the Feu de Bois or Log Fire scent - this is very much a dupe for the Diptyque offering with the same name.

The candle is in a cute little tin, which to be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of - I much prefer the glass jars but I can get passed that. The candle colour is an exact match for it's more expensive cousin and pretty much smells exactly the same when it's unlit. I say this because I've never lit a Diptyque one but I imagine there can't be too much of a difference. There is something very comforting about the smell of a log fire. I didn't grow up with a log fire, but for some reason the scent still makes me quite nostalgic and makes me feel right at home. I love that this smells exactly as it says on the tin, burning wood, campfire, happiness. In fact, it is a quite wintery scent but it kind of reminds me of BBQ's in the summer too when the days are long and warm-ish and you're spending time with those that you love.

I'm really pleased I finally picked this up, and for £3.50 it's well worth the money, in my opinion. Maybe one day I will finally own a gorgeous Diptyque candle, but for now I'm more than happy to sit back, relax and dream of log fires and family times with my dupe.

Have you tried any candles from Muji?
