My latest tea obsession.

One of my aims for 2014 was to move away from the fizzy drinks and try to drink more 'healthy' drinks. In fact, to drink more in general. I used to be able to go through the day on about 500mls, which is super bad for me and my body must have been seriously dehydrated. Anyway, as I said, the aim for the new year was to drink more. As we are only 20 days into 2014, it's hard to say if I will complete this goal but so far, so good.

I've never been a real hot drink drinker. The nurses are always so surprised when I turn up to placement and don't want 'a brew', but gradually I'm getting on board with the toastie drinks. I've never drank 'proper' tea or coffee, none of it appeals to me and the idea of adding milk makes me want to never drink again, so with that in mind I'm always trying alternatives. I was given a sample tea bag of this Pukka tea last year from a shop in the Trafford Centre, I shoved it in my bag and took it to placement one day. Ever since trying this tea I've been craving more, so last week I found the tea bags in Tesco (on offer, bonus!) and popped them in my basket.

This flavour is so difficult to describe. It's not like licorice, as you would imagine, but it's very, very moreish. If you've tried peppermint tea before, you'll know it can be a little bland, an there is something about the licorice that makes this drink delicious. Initially all you can taste is peppermint, but as you swallow the licorice comes through, sweet and really warming. It's a very strange sensation, but really gorgeous at the same time.

If you're looking for an alternative to peppermint tea, or are looking for something new to try, I definitely recommend giving Pukka Peppermint and Licorice tea a go.

This drawing fits in this post nicely. It's is from the lovely Emily at Jammy and Jelly, Emily was asking for people's resolutions, so I sent her mine and she did this adorable drawing of me. You can find her on twitter too here.

  6. I bought this tea a while ago as I absolutely love licorice, had one cup and could not decide if I liked it or not- it has since been lost in the back of the cupboard. After reading this I have just rummaged it out and made another one. I know exactly what you mean about the taste, it is impossible to describe!!!! I am still unsure if I am a lover.

I am a nurse too, and luckily love tea- there is always a look of horror at non tea drinkers. Haha. I am surprised you do not have to be signed off as a tea drinker as an objective.
