A disappointing product.

I'm a little late to the bandwagon, but I've finally jumped on and I've been giving the Maybelline Colour Tattoos a go. These have been hyped up majorly in the blogesphere, but I'm struggling a little with them. I love the colours and they look gorgeous when they are first applied, but a couple of hours later I have crazy amounts of creasing going on. I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong but I've tried applying both with a primer and without a primer and I still find the same thing happens. I've used my fingers to apply and a brush and they look great but then when I'm out an about they turn into some sort of eyelid disaster. What am I doing wrong? I really want to love them, but I just can't.

Thankfully I only paid full price for On and On Bronze - Permanent Taupe (which is a gorgeous colour on my hand!) and Eternal Gold were both from Fragrance Direct and only cost £1.50 each, which is a pretty good deal. It's just a shame I can't get them to work for me. So if you have any tips or advice on how to apply these, please let me know! I want to love them too.

  1. What a shame that you don't get on with them. My biggest issue with these is that I think they are a bit sticky and if you apply to much they can crease quite badly and when I use them I use both an eye primer and powder. But I also really prefer the Bourjois formula which is similar but much lighter and not sticky in the least. :o) Xx

  2. I find they do crease a little on the eyelid so I wear them more as a primer or base than an all over colour and that seems to work for me.

  3. Wow, sorry you are having trouble with these. I wear mine almost every day as a base, and since I have oily eyelids I wear Urban Decay's Primer Potion underneath. I have zero creasing. Maybe a bad batch?

  4. How strange you've found this problem! I have a couple of them, my favourite being Metallic Pomegranate, and I find that once they're on they really don't budge! I apply them with my fingers and then blend the edges out with a fluffy brush. Sometimes I apply a second layer once the first is dry to get a stronger colour payoff. But yeah I've found that once they're dry they don't crease at all! xxx

  5. Oh no so disappointing these didn't work for you! I love my Colour Tattoo and it doesn't crease on me until around the end of the day, but I have fairly dry skin though. Really love your honest review x

  6. Maybe it's too much product?

I don't think these would work for me even with a primer. Maybe as a color base.

  7. I find less is more with these, otherwise they can look a little creasy! I really like them and feel they work best as bases with powder shadow over the top :) I don't use a primer but that's because my eyes are more dry than oily.

  8. I love On and On Bronze, I use it as a base for my powder eyeshadows and they last all day. I agree that less is more too

  10. aww thats a shame that it doesn't work well with you. I have oily eyelids and sometimes i do find that these have a tendency to crease. I use a primer before i apply these in order to try and make them last longer, i also find that using a setting powder on top of them helps alot too :)

Its good that you picked it up at a lower price on fragrance direct though~ Have a lovely day! <3

  12. It's a shame they crease for you! I have a good 7 or 8 now and haven't had any creasing.... are you maybe using too much product? I know I only need a little to get a good colour pay off, and I don't use a primer either. Hmm, strange one! I hope you figure a way out to get them to work for you :) xx

  15. I'm yet to try them! Have tried to stay away if I'm honest as I think they were so hyped I wouldn't be able to really love it.
