HG Drugstore Foundation.

I raved about my new high end HG foundation last week, but here is my drugstore favourite that has well and truly taken pride of place in my collection. After hearing Amelia from Liana Beauty raving about the L'Oreal True Match foundation and comparing it to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation (here) I knew I needed to give it a whirl.

I have the shade N1 Ivory which is the lightest of the neutral toned shades. L'Oreal have a crazy amount of shades in the range, for a drugstore brand. They have warm, neutral and cool toned shades, so there should be a shade for most people. The colour match to my skin tone is probably the best I've found with a foundation, because I'm so pale it's really difficult to match, especially to my neck. This has a huge thumbs up from me on colour range, I'm not sure how much it 'adapts' to your skin tone but I don't feel like I need it to change to match my skin, any more than it already does.

Finish-wise this is pretty matte, but with a lovely glowy look. The photos above were taken just after applying a translucent powder over the top to leave a little more of a matte look. I'd say this gives a good light-medium coverage but is buildable for any areas you'd prefer to hide a little better. The consistency is quite watery when you first get it out of the bottle, but it is super easy to blend (I prefer to apply with my fingers for this one) and begins to dry to leave a gorgeous finish. This stays in place all day and certainly rivals my Clarins Skin Illusion for staying power.

I genuinely can't express how much I love this foundation. It's just the ideal finish, really easy to use and stays put, pretty much perfect all day - plus you still have change from a tenner. This never oxidises or goes patchy and I can leave the house confident that my make up will stay in place until I get home.

You can pick up the L'Oreal True Match foundation from Boots or Superdrug for £9.99

  3. I love this foundation but it just doesn't have the longevity my oily skin needs and after a couple of hours I look like a blotchy mess :(
