OOTD: Skyscraper Shoes.

Dress - In Love with Fashion*
Wedges - Shusole*

I've been willing the sun to come out again, but it seems to have disappeared for the time being. Either way I'm completely in love with this dress, I think it's the perfect summer piece and will look fab at a wedding I'm attending in July. The print really reminds me of a dress currently in Ted Baker, which makes me like it even more. I love the cut out detailing along the front of the dress, it just adds something a little extra and gives the dress a bit more interest.

I've teamed it with this amazing Sierra Wedges from Shusole. They are super high, but surprisingly really comfy. I love how tall they make me, I always need a few extra inches on my tiny legs. I can't wait to wear these in the next few months, when it's very much cocktail season.

The Body Shop Pillow Mist.

For the majority of my life, up until a year or so ago, I could sleep like a log. Now some nights I will wake a few times an night and struggle to get back to sleep, or I will find it difficult to get to sleep initially. Nothing frustrates me more than not being able to sleep. My body knows when I've not slept well and so does my skin. I look completely drained and get that really dull looking skin, when I've not had a good night. After finding myself getting more and more annoyed I went in search of a little help.

I've heard great things about the This Works pillow spray, but it's not readily available in Wigan and I wanted a quick fix without having to wait for Royal Mail. I knew I spotted the Deep Sleep Dreamy Pillow & Body Mist in The Body Shop before so off I went, armed with a £10 off £20 spend and picked up my spray.

I imagined that this would smell like your generic 'calming' sprays - sort of lavendery. However I was pleasantly surprised to find it is very much the opposite. This smells sort-of herbally but with a hint of citrus and chamomile. It's a really pleasant smell and transforms my bed linen and leaves me feeling soothed and relaxed. I've even been spritzing this on the hubby's side as he's been enjoying the scent just as much as I have.

I'm not going to claim this is a miracle worker, but this certainly gives me a helping hand when drifting off to sleep. I've also found myself staying asleep for longer periods and finding it much easier to get back to sleep. This is such a comforting product, it just helps you chill out and eases you into a good sleep. If you are struggling with drifting off, I would definitely recommend picking this up - this will certainly be repurchased over and over again.

SkinHealth Spa: Glamglow Facial.

On Saturday I was kindly invited to Skinhealth Spa in Manchester for a complementary facial. I've never been lucky enough to have a facial before so I was really looking forward to the experience. Skinhealth Spa have a few spas dotted around the country and thankfully there is one of their lovely spas in Manchester.

The spa itself is tucked away in the busy city centre but the second you walk in you become calm and forget all about the busy streets of Manc. The lounge area has a gorgeous sofa and lovely soothing music while you wait for your treatment. I was also given a quick health questionnaire to fill in to make sure I was suitable for the facial I had gone for. Once I'd filled my details in I was taken through to my treatment room.

The lady doing my facial asked me about my skin concerns and explained that the Glamglow facial would be perfect for me. The facial began with a thorough cleanse of my skin, a light exfoliation and a good massage, which was extremely relaxing. It was then followed by the Glamglow mask being applied. I've tested the Glamglow mask before and was a little unsure about it, but after Saturday's experience, I am without a doubt a Glamglow convert. I was left to listen to soothing music and relax, while my mask dried.

Once I had fully dried, it was time to remove my mask. It took a good few goes to get the mask off, but my skin couldn't have felt fresher. After the mask was removed I had a toner, moisturier and serum-like product applied to my skin to finish of my wonderful facial.

My skin looked 'glowing' after my facial. So much so I refused to put any make up back on ans wandered around rainy Manchester bare-faced for the rest of the day. My pores looked visibly smaller and my skin looked transformed from it's dull appearance. The last photo is my skin, make-up free after my facial.

The facial lasted around 20-30 minutes and was the most relaxing half an hour I've had in a very long time. I would certainly recommend going for a facial if you are feeling stressed out and now I'm looking forward to trying out other facials in the future. I'm a complete convert.

You can find out more about the Glamglow facial and other treatments at Skinhealth Spa here.

Tom Ford Cheek Colour.

Earlier this week I got a very exciting tweet from a fellow blogger Heather, saying I had won her Tom Ford giveaway. I've been lusting after Tom Ford make up for so long, but just couldn't afford the price tag, but now I own the most beautiful blusher I've ever seen.

The blush is 01 Love Lust, and actually looks a lot like Nars Orgasm in the pan. It does have those subtle gold under tones to it, but the second it's on my cheeks it turns to a gorgeous corally-pink. This seems like one of those shade that would be perfect for all skin tones. As you all know I'm SUPER pale and this really flatters my ghost-like skin, but I imagine when I have a bit of a tan this will look perfect then, too.

The texture of this blush is perfect too. It's so velvety and lovely to use and doesn't budge an inch all day. This is without a doubt, my favourite make up item in my collection. There is nothing that I don't love about this product, the only problem is, now I want more.

Birthday Wishlist.

Untitled #66
It's two weeks until my birthday, so I thought I would write a little wishlist before I turn the big 2-4. These are few bits and bobs I'd like to buy if I'm lucky enough to get some birthday money.

I'm currently a little bit obsessed with white accessories. I adore these white sandals from ASOS and think they would be super comfy for walking around Barcelona in July. I'm also in love with this Ted Baker mini-tote bag. I own one of the larger tote-bags which is perfect for uni, but this one would be great for every day wear when I'm out and about.

There is so much make up I'm lusting after at the moment. I swatch all of the Too Faced products every time I'm in Boots, but I haven't quite managed to spend my pennies on them just yet. I love the look of the Chocolate Bar palette, it has so amazing colours and the pigmentation is meant to be perfect. I'm also hoping to get my hands on The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter. This just looks like the perfect shade for me and would add a subtle glow to my skin, perfect for summer.

I'm also head over heels in love with this bikini from River Island. It reminds me of the Triangl bikinis but much easier to get hold of. I love the detailing on the bottoms too, I think they would be super flattering. Plus the mint green and black would look amazing with a tan.

Of course, I couldn't write a wish list with a candle. I've still not plucked up the courage to buy a Diptyque candle, but I do give this rose-scented one a good whiff when I pass in Selfridges. I love the jar it comes in too, such pretty packaging.

The Wantable Accessories Box.

I mentioned the Wantable boxes way back in February, when I was kindly sent one of the make-up boxes. This time around I've been trying out on of the Wantable Accessories Box*. Just like the make-up box, I filled in a questionnaire about the sorts of products I like/dislike and anything I disliked, I definitely wouldn't receive. This is a great idea, I've had sample boxes in the past and found I was sent things I would never use, which is kind of a waste of money.

So what did I receive? First up I got a gorgeous scarf with a Paisley print. It's huge and will look perfect wrapped around on a Summer evening, I think it's actually big enough to wear as a sort of sarong on holiday over my bikini too. I was also sent some lovely sunglasses, which have been very much needed these last few days. They're really fab quality and actually don't look ridiculous on my pea-head.

My other two products were a chunky necklace and a headband. I love the huge, statement necklace, it looks perfect against plain dresses and vest tops in the sunshine. Lastly, the headband. Unfortunatly I don't think I will get much wear out of this as a headband as I think my ears look weird when I have headbands on. But I do think it would work as a bobble and add a little bit of intrest to my pony tail.

You can find the Wantable boxes here.

New at The Body Shop.

On Sunday I headed up to Preston to help celebrate The Body Shop's first birthday after their Pulse-store refit. I'm obsessed with TBS and I was super excited to see the new things they had in store. I'm already addicted to the Raspberry range and had to pick myself up a few bits. I've been using the EDT everyday since, it's the perfect sweet scent for summer. Of course, I couldn't leave without getting some more of TBS shower gels, they are without a doubt, my favourite shower gel on the market. I also picked up another oil for my oil burner, this time I'm trying Aloe and Soft Linen, it's the perfect fresh, clean fragrance for any room in my house.

We were also lucky enough to get a bag full of samples to try. I've already been back to my local TBS and picked up the Tea Tree Pore Minimiser as I feel in love with my sample pot straight away. We also had a sneak peak of the new Body Sorbets which are due for release later this year, I already have them all on my wish list.

Have you picked anything up from The Boy Shop recently?

Sugar Free Snacks: Almond Butter Bark.

I have now entered week two of quitting sugar and I'm pleased to say, so far so good. We've been experimenting with foods a little more and I think we are both much more aware of what's in our food, which can only be a good thing. We've tried a few of the recipes from the I Quit Sugar book and this Almond Butter Bark is one of my faves.

This is super easy to make and requires no baking. I've messed around with the recipe a little and tried adding cashew butter and my latest invention is adding pumpkin seeds for an added crunch. This is great to keep in the fridge as a little snack when I start craving something a little sweeter. Plus it's a quick and easy way to get nuts and coconut oil into my diet. The perfect sugar-free snack for a sugar addict.

You can find the full recipe here.

OOTD: Here Comes the Sun.

Playsuit - ASOS via Depop
Boots - New Look

My obsession with bunnies is getting a little out of hand, but I needed this play suit in my life. I somehow didn't see this on ASOS even though I spend so much time on there, but luckily I managed to get this from Depop for £10. I adore the colour, it's perfect for spring and was really lovely to wear something bright in the sunshine this weekend. The material is really thin and kept me cool all day. I didn't manage to bare my super pale legs, but I was daring and didn't wear my cardigan all day..I can't wait to get some more wear out of this over the next few months.

I've also Instagrammed a close up of the pattern, if you follow me (Katieatki) you may have already seen it. If not here is the print close up:

More Soap & Glory Newness.

Recently the lovely people over at Soap & Glory surprised me with a lovely package with some of their new items. I was very lucky to receive the Sit-Tight Super-Intense 4D Firming + Soothing Serum* and the Sit Tight Saddlebags Stubborn Area Serum*. Both products are designed to firm and tighten up your problem areas and help you tighten up, firm and smooth your skin.

Sit-Tight Super-Intense 4D Firming + Soothing Serum* uses a roller ball-type system to apply the serum to your problem areas. I've been using this solely on my thighs to try and tighten up a little. Be warned this does heat-up after you've applied it but the packaging explains this is meant to happen, but be aware of this when using this on sensitive skin or sensitive areas. Since using this I do feel as though my skin is beginning to feel firmer and isn't as 'wobbly' on my thighs. I will definitely continue to use this as we move into the summer weather and my legs will be out more.

Sit Tight Saddlebags Stubborn Area Serum* works slightly differently, using a massage roller to apply. This is designed to stimulate the area you are applying the serum to and help promote firming of the skin. Saddlebags contains an oxygen booster which helps in the smoothing and firming process as well as sweet orange, almond peel and olive oil to re-hydrate the skin. I've been focusing mainly on the tops on arms and stomach with this one.

These are fab products to try out if you're looking to tone up a little, alongside a healthy diet and exercise. These are great products if you are getting ready for wearing a bikini on the beach and you want a little confidence boost.

You can find out more about these products on the Soap & Glory here.

Once upon a Time.

Lately I've been trying to get 'into' jewellery more. As a teenager I wouldn't leave the house with out accessorising, but for some reason, as I've got older my accessories have got less and less. I've moved on from chunky bracelets and tend to just wear my Pandora or Tiffany charm bracelets and necklace-wise, although I love a statement necklace, I've reverted back to those simplistic, delicate necklaces. So this is where my beautiful necklace from A Curious Fairytale comes in.

A Curious Fairytale are a Manchester based company selling pretty pieces of jewellery through Etsy. Thier pieces are all handmade and unique and I think this 'Once Upon a Time' necklace is just perfect. I love the style of this necklace and the roundness reminds me a lot of an old-school pocket watch. There is something lovely and nostalgic about this piece and it makes me think of all those children's books I read when I was younger. I really love my necklace and the fact it's been handmade makes it all the more special. Plus it came gorgeous wrapped too, with some much effort and care.

Make-up Brushes Everyone Needs.

I've owned Real Techniques brushes for some time and they've always been a big part of my make up routine. My favourite brush last year was the Expert Face Brush, but after gradually moving on from it, I decided it wasn't the foundation brush for me and reverted back to using my fingers to apply foundation. That was until I discovered the Buffing Brush from RT. This actually comes in the Core Collection and I'm pretty sure you can't actually buy it on it's own, but for me the collection is worth buying purely for this brush.

There is nothing that applies my liquid foundation like this brush. Although it was initially designed for applying mineral and powder-based foundations, I've found this does an amazing job at blending out my favourite liquid ones. This brush leaves a completely flawless look and a sort of airbrushed feel to the skin. I prefer this to the Expert Face Brush as the bristles are much less compact, giving this brush much more movement on your face and it allows the foundation to 'buff' into the skin perfectly. I also find that the bristles don't soak up all of my foundation. In fact they seem to soak up very little, meaning I don't need to re-apply a thousand times to get the right finish. This is without a doubt a staple in my make-up routine.

For applying concealer I find the Contour Brush is perfect. Again, this isn't designed for how I use it but it's just perfect for using under the eyes. Not only is this the ideal shape for applying concealer and powder under my eyes, it's also really soft and delicate around that sensitive area. I love the finish from this brush too, it seems to blend out my concealer amazingly and doesn't leave any of those 'stripes' you can get from not blending very well. This is also fab for patting on finishing powder under my eyes to complete my make-up look.

What's your favourite RT brush?

Avocado Mac & Cheese.

As I'm just starting my sugar-free journey I wanted to try to do some different meals. Off I went in search of some inspiration and I came across this macaroni cheese recipe with a twist - avocado. I've been doing a little research into the things I should be eating and avocado is up there with the best. It's full of good fats and has a very butter-like texture so it's pretty versatile. I thought this recipe was a great chance to get avocado into my diet whilst still being quit discreet.

Gluten free Pasta
2 cloves garlic or garlic puree
2 avocados, peeled and pitted
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/3 cup chopped fresh cilantro (coriander)*
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons rice flour
1 cup milk
2 cups grated cheese
Salt and pepper, to taste
Fresh avocado chunks*
*optional

Mix your garlic, avocados, lime juice, salt & pepper and coriander to a smooth paste and put aside. Then make a white sauce using the milk, flour and butter and then add the cheese. Cook the pasta and mix with the avocado sauce then pop on your cheese sauce and mix again. And voila, Avocado mac and cheese. I actually added an extra sprinkling of cheese to finish off my pasta, but you could equally add bread crumbs, fresh avocado etc.

I followed the recipe word for word, minus the cilantro aka coriander. Unfortunately mine didn't photograph quite as well as the original but I think you get the jist. I also think I put a little bit too much avocado sauce on my portion but hey ho, I know for next time.

This is a really quick and simple way of getting more goodness into your diet, but still being able to enjoy one of your favourite meals. If you're an avocado lover you'll be obsessed with this meal, if you're not I still say give it a go, you might change your mind.

Wake Me Up Foundation in Light Porcelain.

As you're all probably aware I am very pale skinned. In fact, that is probably an understatement and I actually resemble some sort of ghost, especially at this time of year. Unfortunately my Cyprus-glow has swiftly disappeared and I'm back to my normal shade of white. If you are a fellow pale-skinned girl. you'll know how frustrating drugstore foundation shopping can be. Although I have my trusty L'Oreal True Match foundation which is my all time favourite, it is quite light coverage and some days my skin really needs just that little bit more. After hearing that Rimmel had finally upped their game and brought out a lighter shade, Light Porcelain, in the Wake Me Up foundation range, I knew I had to give it a whirl.

I've heard so many rave-reviews about the Wake Me Up range, but hadn't got round to trying. However, after hearing so many positive things, I had high expectations for the foundation and I'm pleased to say it hasn't disappointed. The Wake Me Up foundation has a very different texture to the one I'm used to applying. True Match is a very liquidy foundation and sort of glides onto my skin with very minimal effort. Where as the Wake Me Up is much less-watery and actually quite thick in texture, meaning it does give a more medium coverage and requires a little more work on my skin.

I'm not so sure about the 'wake me up' aspect of the foundation but it does certainly give me good coverage and leaves me with flawless-looking skin. I love the coverage especially around my eyes, where I can get dark circles and this certainly disguises them. Staying power of this foundation is pretty incredible. I've worn this all day at work then gone to dancing and it's still be in place when I get home. I have found I don't need to top up with any powder all day as this seems to mattify my skin all day long.

Finally the colour. Thank you Rimmel for producing such a light foundation for all us pale-skinned girls out there. This is a pretty much perfect match for my skin colour and their isn't a tinge of orange in sight. You can find Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in Light Porcelain in Boots and Superdrug.
