August bank holiday saw LGBT Pride return to Manchester. I was kindly invited along by Thomas Cook Airlines to experience The Big Weekend in Manchester's Gay Village. We chose to head in on the Saturday so we could see the parade, which was incredible. The streets were filled with people waving rainbow flags, blowing whistles and generally just having a brilliant time. There was such an amazing atmosphere and so much support for the LBGT community.
As expected Canal Street and the surrounding areas were packed with people celebrating. We headed to the main stage to enjoy some music in the sunshine - luckily the rain stayed away so we could enjoy ourselves. It was a really fab day and something I would certainly go to again.
The parade was easily the highlight for me, it was just incredible seeing how much effort people had put into their floats to support Pride. I can't wait for next year!
