Earlier this week I had a crazyyy cooking session at home with a few new recipes and ideas I had. I'm no Nigella when it comes to cooking or baking but I wanted to give a few things a go. Expect a few food-related posts over the next few weeks, with me showcasing my attempts at making edible food.
The first thing I wanted to try making was my own hummus, I am a self-confessed hummus addict and if I'd realised how easy it was to make at home, I certainly would have done it earlier. The best part about this recipe is it's dairy and gluten free, as well as vegan. So here's what you need:
1 Tin of Chickpeas
3 Tbsp Tahini
3 Tbsp Lemon Juice
4 Tbsp Olive Oil
3 Tbsp Garlic Powder (or 2 cloves of Garlic)
1/2 Tbsp Cumin
2 Tbsp Water
Salt to taste
Paprika for garnishing
Whiz everything together (minus the chickpeas) until blended. Then add your chick peas and mix until smooth. I like my hummus quite thick hence the consistency of mine. but you can blend until it's right for you. Then pop into a container and refrigerate until you're ready to eat. When you are ready, garnish with paprika.
In case you're wondering, I picked up a jar of Tahini from Tesco in the world foods section for £2.50. Although I think there are recipes that you can use without picking up tahini, but I like the flavour it adds to the hummus.
Have you ever made you're own hummus?
